Gantt Chart Maker: data and export guide

By Team Hypomnema · Updated October 19, 2026

Map labeled tasks onto an ISO-date start and end timeline.

Prepare and map the data

Use a header row with unique column names. CSV follows quoted-field conventions; JSON supports object records, a header-first row matrix, column arrays, a data/rows/records wrapper, or a label-value object. JSON Lines uses one object per line. Nested JSON cells need flattening. Importing replaces the current table only after validation succeeds.

Select the label or X field and one or more numeric series. Scatter requires two numeric fields, bubble three, slope/dumbbell two series, candlesticks open/high/low/close fields, and Gantt two ISO-date columns. Aggregation is explicit: preserve rows, sum, mean or count. Missing observations are not silently changed to zero.

Choose an honest visual

Bars use a zero baseline. Stacks, areas and part-to-whole charts require nonnegative values. Pie, donut and waffle require a positive total. Bubble area, rather than radius, represents value. Box plots use interpolated quartiles and 1.5-IQR whiskers. Correlation uses pairwise complete observations; undefined correlations are labeled N/A. Waffle cells use largest-remainder rounding and show approximate whole percentages.

Numeric and ISO-date line axes preserve spacing and sort by X. Categorical lines preserve your chosen ordering. Date fields must be valid ISO dates; Gantt end dates are inclusive. Funnel stages retain their order and show value relative to the first stage; increasing stages receive a warning. Chart Studio recommendations indicate structural suitability and still need your subject-matter review.

Export privately

Data stays in browser memory; no upload, external chart service or AI model. CSV, TSV, semicolon/pipe text, JSON and JSON Lines: 2 MB, 10,000 rows, 24 columns. Charts allow up to eight series; categorical charts 60 groups, lines/scatter/candlesticks 500 rows, pie/donut/waffle 12 categories, radar 3–12 dimensions. Blank/invalid mapped values are omitted and counted. Numeric values use a decimal point; remove currency symbols and grouping separators. Percent strings are treated as displayed numeric values (25% becomes 25). Dates use ISO format. Recommendations check data structure, not meaning or causation. PNG up to 16 MP; SVG stays vector; PDF embeds a high-resolution chart image. Review mappings, ordering, aggregation and labels before sharing.

Chart text and values are escaped when writing SVG. No HTML, scripts, remote images, spreadsheet macros, remote URLs or formulas are executed. Gallery downloads use a single ZIP instead of triggering many separate downloads. SVG is vector artwork; PDF uses a raster chart image. Exported files can contain your data, so choose where you store and share them.
