How to use Audio Compressor & Limiter

  1. Add a recording and optionally trim it.
  2. Load a preset or choose a detector. Select an adjustment to set threshold, ratio, knee, timing, makeup gain or wet mix.
  3. Set the limiter ceiling and lookahead. Prepare the encoded preview, review gain reduction and download.

What are the limits of Audio Compressor & Limiter?

Browser-supported MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC and WebM; mono or stereo only. One file up to 20 MB and two minutes. Processing runs locally at 44.1 kHz in a cancellable worker. WAV is 16-bit PCM. MP3 re-encoding is lossy, may add frame padding and can use lower sample rates at low bitrates. Source metadata is not retained. The encoder reduces overall gain when needed to prevent sample clipping. The detector links channels using their largest absolute sample, with optional 10 ms energy smoothing. Attack/release smooth compressor gain in dB. Parallel mix blends dry and compressed audio before the limiter. The sample-peak limiter uses up to 10 ms of compensated lookahead and an immediate gain reduction with adjustable release. It preserves duration but is not oversampled true-peak limiting, LUFS normalization or broadcast certification. Extremely fast limiting can distort sound. The static graph does not simulate attack/release. Output normalization is disabled to preserve the ceiling; lossy MP3 true peaks can differ.
