Background Remover
Keep the subject, lose the background. Create a transparent PNG locally.
Your files never leave your deviceHow to use Background Remover
A lightweight U-2-Netp model finds the main foreground subject in your image. The model runs in a browser worker, and the result can keep transparent edges or use a replacement background.
- Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image with a clearly visible subject. The local model and runtime load on first use.
- Remove the background, then adjust edge strength, softness, and background colour. Use erase or restore brushes for local corrections.
- Inspect the checkerboard preview, reset corrections if needed, and download a PNG with transparency or a background colour.
A practical example
Remove a plain backdrop from a product photo, then restore a small detail with the brush before exporting a transparent PNG.
Useful things to know
What are the limitations?
Automatic segmentation is approximate, especially for hair, glass, shadows, and low-contrast backgrounds. The preview and export are limited to 4 megapixels. Model assets may be cached by the browser; your image is not uploaded. Very old browsers or memory-constrained phones may not run the model.
Is this private and free to use?
File processing stays in your browser. Model and runtime assets are downloaded from this site only when needed. Your selected images and recognized text are not uploaded, and no visitor documents are stored between visits.
What should I check before relying on the result?
Keep your original. Inspect recognition, colours, transparency, and dimensions. Automated tools can make mistakes; the preview and editing controls help you review the result.
Can I use this free BG remover without uploading my image?
Yes. Background Remover is free to use without registration. Tool inputs are processed in your browser rather than uploaded to our servers. Optional usage analytics follows your cookie preferences; it does not receive your files or tool inputs. Keep your browser updated and review results before sharing.
