Image Cropper
Frame it your way. Drag a crop or choose a familiar aspect ratio.
Your files never leave your deviceHow to use Image Cropper
Remove unwanted edges or prepare an image for a square, portrait, or landscape frame. The crop is applied in source-image pixels, so the export is independent of the preview size.
- Choose one JPG, PNG, or WebP image.
- Choose an aspect ratio, drag across the preview to select a crop, or enter precise X, Y, width, and height values. The framed area is retained.
- Check the live preview and export format, then crop and download a new image.
A practical example
Choose 1:1 to produce a square avatar. Move the selection by drawing it over the area you want, or adjust X and Y precisely.
Before you share the result
- The selection must stay inside the original image and be at least one pixel wide and high.
- Dragging creates a new selection. Numeric controls provide an alternative to touch or pointer gestures.
- Use Reset crop to return to the full image. Your original is never overwritten.
Useful things to know
Are my files private?
File processing happens locally in your browser. Images, PDFs, and output archives are not uploaded to our servers. Save your results before leaving: the workspace is cleared on refresh or navigation.
What formats and sizes are supported?
One JPG, PNG, or WebP image, up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels at input. Exported images are limited to 16 megapixels. Total output is limited to 100 MB. Smaller batches work better on phones.
What should I expect from this tool?
Cropping is rectangular and does not remove backgrounds or subjects. The selected aspect ratio locks width and height together.
Will the exported image look exactly like the original?
PNG retains the decoded pixels without extra lossy compression; JPEG and WebP use the chosen quality. Metadata and colour profiles are not copied. Colour rendering can vary by browser. Animated images become a browser-decoded still frame. Keep your originals and inspect the downloaded output.
Is Image Cropper free, and how is my privacy handled?
Yes. Image Cropper is free to use without registration. Tool inputs are processed in your browser rather than uploaded to our servers. Optional usage analytics follows your cookie preferences; it does not receive your files or tool inputs. Keep your browser updated and review results before sharing.
