How to use Subtitle Editor

  1. Import an SRT/WebVTT file or add cues. Optionally add a local video for playback.
  2. Edit text and millisecond timings. Review overlap, line length and reading speed; shift, split, merge or reflow cues.
  3. Export SRT, WebVTT or a plain transcript.

What are the limits of Subtitle Editor?

Up to 2 MB / 1 million input characters and 2,000 cues. Each cue supports 2,000 characters and timestamps below 100 hours. Imported styling, regions and positioning settings are not retained. Video is local, up to 500 MB; codecs depend on your browser. Exports are subtitle files, not burned-in video. Reading-speed checks are guidelines. Undo retains 20 edits; download your work before leaving.
