Audio Silence Remover in your browser

By Team Hypomnema · Updated October 19, 2026

Detect quiet pauses, review and preview proposed cuts, keep breathing space and export a shorter recording.

Prepare and preview

Add one recording and optionally trim its start and end.

Set the silence threshold, minimum pause and speech-edge padding, then analyze. Listen to proposed pauses and uncheck any cut you want to keep.

Prepare the preview, compare with the original, then download the edited audio.

Limits and output quality

Browser-supported MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC and WebM inputs; mono or stereo only. Up to 20 MB per file, 40 MB and two minutes of source audio combined. Processing runs locally at 44.1 kHz with a cancellable worker. WAV is 16-bit PCM; MP3 re-encoding is lossy, cannot restore missing detail, and may add frame padding or use a lower sample rate at low bitrates. Accessible source metadata is not preserved. Peak normalization is not LUFS mastering or noise removal. The encoder reduces gain if needed to prevent clipping. Shorter recordings are best on phones. Pause detection uses 10 ms RMS windows and can mistake quiet speech, breaths or music for silence. Always review proposed cuts. Padding retains sound near speech edges; optional 5 ms fades soften internal cut boundaries. Up to 500 detected cuts; at least one sample must remain. This tool does not remove background noise or recognize spoken words.
