Choose the service, not just a passport-size label

Photo rules differ by service and application route. This maker includes a 35 × 45 mm printed Indian-passport preset, a 25 × 35 mm Protean DSC PAN preset at 200 DPI, a 51 × 51 mm OCI preset, and separate square digital visa and e-Visa presets. The selected service links to its official requirements. These presets were checked in October 2026; your current portal or mission instructions take priority.

Passport Seva often captures adult photographs at the centre; its linked supplied-photo guidance is for children under four. OCI’s linked FAQ asks for a light background that is not white, so that preset starts with light blue. A white background is the default for the other presets. This tool is independent of government services and cannot certify approval.

Start with a good photograph

Use a recent, sharp, front-facing photo in even lighting. Keep the full head and shoulders in frame, avoid shadows and glare, and preserve a natural expression and skin tones. A photo editor cannot correct a turned head, closed eyes or missing detail. Retake an unsuitable photo instead of trying to reconstruct it.

Crop and refine without changing your identity

Choose a preset or enter custom width and height in millimetres or pixels. Drag the preview or use the position sliders, then adjust zoom and rotation. The guide is an illustration, not face detection or a head-size measurement. Follow the actual service’s framing rules. Review the background mask around hair, ears and clothing; erase and restore brushes correct local mistakes. Keep brightness, contrast and colour adjustments modest. No face reshaping is performed.

Export for uploads or printing

JPEG downloads have exact pixel dimensions and a DPI density tag. Millimetre-to-pixel conversion rounds to the nearest whole pixel. File-size fitting adjusts JPEG quality while preserving dimensions; it reports a failure if the requested size cannot be reached. Some portals also set a minimum byte size. The maker does not add artificial padding or silently shrink the image to claim compliance.

For printing, choose a 4 × 6 inch or A4 PDF sheet with repeated copies and cut guides outside the photos. The PDF places each photo at the requested physical size. Print at Actual size or 100%, disable Fit to page, and check a ruler measurement on the first print. Printer settings and paper can affect the result.

The background model runs locally in a worker after downloading its assets from this site. Your photo is not uploaded or sent to analytics, and no account is required. Inputs and results are held in temporary page memory; saved downloads remain on your device. Technical sizing checks and the preview do not verify identity, biometric compliance or acceptance.
